I think every artist has dry spells from time to time.  Is there something special that tends to inspire you enough to pull you out of an artist's block?

For me, the change of seasons always helps, especially the Fall season.

One good trick is to look at great art of the past and presant.  That will help inspire you:)

My desire to get better is often enough to motivate me, but looking at art from past masters is also very inspirational. Almost so much that it becomes a burden. Suddenly you want to do too much, too quickly.

And yeah, sunny days in general is inspiring. If not very productional. I end up just sitting on a bench at the river, doing nothing.

Im still waiting for my first real artists block to happen. But then again im still far from calling myself an artist at all.  Im sure ill come thou, both feeling as an artist and the block Cheesy

Go ahead and call your self an artist. It does not describe skill but just that you produce something that can be judged as art:)

Haha, yeah, I guess. The day I do something that I can honestly say to myself "hey this looks pretty good", ill call myself an artist.
Otherwise Id just feel silly about it I think. Like calling myself a Barber despite only cutting my moms hair once :p

Thats just me though, everyone who feel like an artist should call themself that no matter their skill level.

Music probably inspires me more than anything, honestly.  Though a good piece of art will do the trick in a pinch as well.

That's interesting music does nothing for me really. Its more about visual ideas and I do not get those from music.

I almost made a new topic for this, but it's related enough so I thought I'd share.  This video -really- got my wheels turning, hooray for stumbleupon!

That is neat. Might have worked better tho if they would have zoomed in after a couple of pages so you could see the art work better. But still very interesting.

Music does it for me to.  Patrick, my jaw almost dropped when I saw that music rarely gives you visual ideas.  For me music can sometimes give me so much visual imagery that it is overwhelming.

Krel, I too sometimes want to do too much too soon.  Actually, I'm always like that.

I get artist's block often, but I also have artist overload where there are so many ideas that I can't keep up with them.  Sometimes that's almost as frustrating as artist' block.

Well I am just much more visually oriented. Now music of course can make me feel up or down or I like some more than others. But not to the same degree as visual things. Probably one reason music never held that much interest for me. Smiley  Matter of fact I find it distracting when I work.

Meds, I think we might be the same person.  Tongue.  I know -exactly- what you mean.
